Research on waste management in the traditional markets in Indonesia, December 2016

The FORWARD project, under the EAWAG, a research project that developed integrated strategies and technologies for the management of municipal organic solid waste in medium-sized cities of Indonesia. To gain insights into the sustainability of multi-stakeholders’ interventions regarding waste management market and understanding the key challenges in maintaining waste segregation in the traditional market context.

TSB, in conjunction with the EAWAG (FORWARD project) and APPSI (Association of traditional markets in Indonesia), contracted to deliver research on the sustainability of multi-stakeholders’ interventions regarding waste management in the traditional market and understanding key challenges in maintaining waste segregation in the traditional market context. The study conducted in several traditional markets within Imogiri, Central Java, and Sidoarjo East Java. The study report completed with recommendation on the mechanism for collaboration, implementation of project strategies and planning to ensure sustainability, submitted by TSB at the end of the assignment.
