Water, Sanitation, Hygiene (WASH) and Waste Management – Technical Guideline Development and Improvement Plan, April 2018 – November 2019

PT Royal Lestari Utama or RLU (www.rlu.co.id) is an integrated natural rubber company: a pioneer and leader in sustainable natural rubber production. It was established in 2015 through a joint venture between Barito Pacific Group (Indonesia) and Michelin Group (France), one of the world’s largest tire producers. Through its subsidiaries, RLU has developed and managed more than 88,000 hectares of natural rubber in Jambi and East Kalimantan.

As a respectable company, RLU demonstrates their commitment to addressing the employees’ well-being and contributes to the development of the host communities. RLU committed to deliberately fulfilling the basic needs of their employee who lives in the housing facility inside the concession areas, by ensuring their access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene as well as the healthy workplace environment. Following these commitments, RLU assigned TSB to develop the water supply, sanitation and waste management improvement strategy and technical guidelines.

At the end of 1.5 years contract period, TSB completed the improvement plan and technical guideline for water supply, sanitation, and solid waste management. Each technical guideline contains engineering drawing, estimation the bill of quantity (BoQ), standard norms for implementation / constructions as well as the maintenance system. Besides designing and planning, TSB supported the RLU field team to roll out the improvement plans / technical guidelines and monitored the progress.
